We did a 16 days trip to Rajasthan visiting Pushkar, Ajmer, Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Dundlod, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Udaipur & Jaipur. We had hired a taxi from Jaipur and would be covering these destinations one by one. Keep visiting!

Haleem being prepared on mass scale for the upcoming festival of Muharram en route to Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra.
We were hitting Ajmer from Pushkar at about 4PM, so decided to take the diversion towards Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra. Nestled in small lanes, this place is an architecture marvel with beautiful and intricate carvings on the pillars and domes and arches depicting both Hindu and Muslim styles. We spent about half an hour taking the pictures and appreciating the art.
We then headed towards the Ana Sagar Lake, the beauty of the lake was accentuated by the setting sun. The promenade beside the lake has baradaris (places to rest) made with marble which is extensively available in the region. The lake also has a boating option, however we decided to just enjoy the beauty from the sides. We could also see a small group of local musicians playing the Qawwali songs.
Since it was getting dark, we decided to take a break from the long day and spent rest of the time at the hotel. We were also preparing for an early morning visit to the Armer Dargah as we expected less crowds at the time. Our hotel was fairly close to the Dargah, and since parking would have been a problem, we just took an auto rickshaw which dropped us close to the entry gate. We bought a chadar and flowers to be offered on Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti's Mazar and headed inside. The shoes can be kept safe just outside the main gate with a token system, while you should definitely carry a scarf or handkerchief to cover your head, without which the entry is not allowed in the main premises. The atmosphere in the Dargah was very relaxing and we just loved the early morning prayers. While at the Dargah, you should also see the Badi Deeg which can be used to prepare 100 quintals of rice and food.
Once out of the Dargah, there are many local joints where you can have breakfast, although we just enjoyed a rickshaw ride back to the hotel. After checking out, we went to Soniji Ki Nasiyan, a place not visited by many, but an absolute delight. The temple is restricted to only Jain's however the museum is open to all. The museum depicts a city of gold (Swarna Nagari) with gold plated palaces, chariots, ships, armies and people in a single large display which can be seen from two different levels in the building. It took us about half and hour to complete the visit after which we started to head towards Nawalgarh ( Shekhawati ) area .
