Tinda is a popular vegetable in India as well as Pakistan. Tinda Chana Dal is a flavorful dish made from Tinda (Apple Gourd) and Chana Dal.
I hated Tinda a lot when I was a kid. However, my mom used to make sure that I eat them. When I grew up, I formed this perspective that no matter which vegetable or ingredient we use, with a little sense of flavors, we can turn even the bland dishes into something lip-smacking.
Tinda Chana Dal is one such dish which I have recreated and tweaked to make it more palatable for my taste buds. Along with Tinda, I have used veggies such as tomatoes, onions.
To give that desi taste to Tinda Chana Dal, I even added cumin seeds, fennel seeds, heeng, red chilli powder and garlic. It turned out more yummy than I had imagined. That again brings me to my point that you can create magical recipes even if the ingredients used are not so special.

One of the main reasons for preparing Tinda Chana Dal is that I am impressed by the benefits of eating Tinda. Tinda prevents heart diseases, prostate cancer. It even cures constipation and smoothens our intestinal tracks.
Moreover, Tinda is even good for our skin and hair. This vegetable helps in relieving acidity and increases water absorption. I am sure you are convinced to eat more dishes made from Tinda from now on.
Having mentioned the benefits of Tinda, let me tell you that Tinda Chana Dal is a sure win for a person like me who hated eating Tinda. It is so toothsome that I tend to forget that I am eating Tinda.
You could serve Tinda Chana Dal with a steaming bowl full of Zeera Rice or with piping hot parathas, it will surely make a finger-licking meal. Make a note of this recipe in your big food diary and tell me about your experience for making the same through your tweets!
