I get dehydrated very easily during Summer, however, on my Mom's recommendation I started using more buttermilk in my recipes and I found that I started remaining hydrated. Some of my friends are lactose intolerant, so they cannot get calcium through the medium of milk, however, when they drink buttermilk, they receive some calcium.
Buttermilk even protects us from vitamin deficiency and restricts our cholesterol levels. So, for Thayir Aval as we have used buttermilk, let me tell you that you are surely going to reap its nutritional benefits.
Along with buttermilk and poha, I have taken ingredients such as curry leaves, various types of dals, coconut which wholly enhance the flavor of this recipe. The subtle taste of Thayir Aval literally enthralls senses.
