This Mooli Ke Patte Ki Bhujia recipe takes me back to my childhood. Winter was the time when the food experience was on it's high. Fresh green vegetables flooded the market and it was a sight to cherish at the vegetable market.
Variety of lush green saag, white cauliflowers, shiny capsicums, blood red beets and many other vegetables which were available only that time of the year, made the vegetable stalls look like a rainbow.
As the months approached to March and summers started to set in, these vegetables disappeared and got replaced by the gourds and other summer varieties. Now with the invent of hybrid varieties, we get mostly all the vegetables throughout the year, the taste and freshness gone to a low though.
I got lucky to get these freshest of Mooli Ke Patte from a friends garden recently and wasted no time in making a Mooli Ke patte Wali Dal and this simple Mooli Ke Patte Ki Bhujia. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Radish peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • 3 cups Radish greens Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Mustard oil
  • 2 tsp Garlic Chopped
  • 2 Green chilli Slit into halves
  • 1/4 tsp Heeng
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan.
  2. When the oil is hot, add garlic and green chilies and fry for a few seconds till the garlic is slightly browned.
  3. Add heeng and cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds.
  4. Add radish, radish greens and salt.
  5. Mix well.
  6. cover and cook for 5-8 minutes on low heat.
  7. Serve hot with Dal and phulke.
