Laxmi Niwas Palace, Bikaner

The next stop in our 20 days trip to Rajasthan was Bikaner. After doing a lot of research on the places to stay, we decided on Laxmi Niwas Palace, an old palace turned into a luxury hotel and managed by the Maharani's trust. We got an absolute royal treatment right from entering the hotel, feeling the royal pulse every minute. Right from the ambiance, to the service, to food and location, everything was just outstanding.

The Royal experience starts even before you enter the palace, with a large promenade leading into the property. While we got down from the car, a soothing "Padharo Mahre Des" greets you along with a shower of Marigold and Rose Petals from the top and garlanding and tikka by local hosts. We were already in love with the place with the amazing reception.

The reception staff guided us personally to the room, giving a small tour of the property. This was originally the residential palace of Maharaj Ganga Singh, king of former Bikaner state.

I was totally amazed with the size of the huge suite room which was well decorated still retaining the wall art from the King's time and the luxurious attached bathroom. A royal bed in the middle which had a two step velvet ladder to get on to, a nicely arranged tea table, an all amenities bathroom, it was just a perfect dream.

A local performance is arranged every evening with musicians and dancers performing to Rajasthani songs while you can order a few drinks.

The staff was courteous to have asked us if we wanted our dinner table reserved and as we came to the central courtyard, we had one of the best place reserved for us, while Mr. Rajesh Sharma, F&B Manager of the property kept a constant contact with each of the guests. The food was an absolute delight to have with dishes ranging from the traditional Rajasthani fare to the ones specially included in the menu to take care of the international palate.

After having a lavish dinner and a sound sleep, the morning started on a beautiful note with melodious sound of flute making the atmosphere calm and serene. White pigeons cooing in the background only added to the awesomeness.

Breakfast was again a fancy affair and the simple dishes served in style made it a memorable one.
The location, service, ambiance of Laxmi Niwas Palace is just great and definitely not to be missed on your Bikaner trip. Enjoy a memorable stay, as for us it was time to go around the town and visit the historical sites. Coming shortly on that. Till then stay tuned.
