Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 3 tbsp Tomato puree
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 100 gms Khoya
  • 1/2 cup Matar
  • 6 cups Makhane
  • 1/4 cup Cashewnuts cut into halves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp Fresh cream or malai
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan.
  2. When the oil is hot, add onion.
  3. Fry till onions are slightly browned.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste.
  5. Fry till onions are golden brown.
  6. Add tomato puree and cook for a minute.
  7. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder and salt.
  8. Add 1/2 cup water and cook for 2 minutes.
  9. Add khoya and cook for another minute.
  10. Add 4 cups of water and bring the masala to a boil.
  11. Add makhane, matar and cashewnuts.
  12. Cook till makhane are soft and water is almost reduced.
  13. Add sugar, lemon juice and fresh cream.
  14. Garnish with fresh coriander.
  15. Serve hot with zeera rice or parathe.
