Day 1 in Taiwan - Kaohsiung, Taiwan Travel Blog

For the 1:30 flight by Cathy Pacific to Hong Kong, we reached the airport at 10:30 and got done with the immigration and security on time. I had a light dinner at the Plaza premium lounge and then waited for the boarding. The flight was slightly delayed and I literally slept through it until we landed in Hong Kong. The landing in Hong Kong is gorgeous with a beautiful sea view and I am glad I woke up just on time to experience that. I met the others who were travelling for this trip for the first time at the Hong Kong airport and after a brief introduction, I headed to the Plaza premium lounge again to grab something to eat.
The spread there was fantastic with an array of dishes to choose from. I choose to eat a croissant, hazelnut roll and a bowl of Hong Kong style Fish Ball soup. The soup was essentially rice noodles, fish balls, fried tofu in a fragrant broth. I topped it up with some red chilli paste, celery, fried garlic and red chillies and I instantly loved the idea of having Soup meals.

After another wait, it was time to board the flight to Kaohsiung, which is a massive port city in southern taiwan. Once we landed in kaohsiung, we were greeted by our guide Frank who accompanied us through out the trip and was a thorough gentleman. He handed us out Wifi Devises and after a quick coffee at Starbucks at the airport, we boarded our Mini bus which took us directly to the Pier 2 Art Centre. This is an abandoned warehouse which is transformed into an art centre due to persistence of local artists and you can see a lot of fine art pieces here. After a few minutes of stroll here, we drove to the hotel where we were staying for the night.

The food was delicious and I enjoyed everything that came to the table. This was indeed a very good experience where I could taste some authentic Chinese dished which is very tough back in India.

The hotel we stayed in is one of the best to spend your time in Kaohsiung. Ambassador Hotel, is situated 10 Km from the airport and is located along side the beautiful Love River and it also over looks the Mount Snou. It is one of the best choice of accommodation for business and leisure travellers as it is situated right in the heart of the financial district. After the dinner, we left for a boat ride on the Love river. The area looked liked the most happening part of Kaohsiung. There were eating joints lined up on the promenade, bands playing at the restaurants and families enjoying their meal. We took a ferry tour on the love river and then came back to the hotel and retired for the day.
